The Bugei (Art of Combat) and Bujutsu (Warrior Technique or Technique of Combat) both concern was to gain maximum effectiveness in their fighting skills for Bu (Combat). Most of the more so-called tradtional karate ryu today more or less tend to follow the path of "Karate-Do" meaning the empty hand way, which in turn, are the arts of Budo (The way of combat). Budo was adopted in the twentieth century for all martial arts in general, with an emphasis on peaceful aspects. In addition to the physical discipline and the waza (technique), it implies an attitude of mind and certain ethic.
